What effect has massive cutting on rainforests?

What are rainforests?

The Tropical rainforests, with tall trees, a warm climate, lots of rain, and biodiversity, are indispensable ecosystems for life on the Earth. In some rainforests, it rains more than one inch every day. In some rainforests, it rains more than one inch every day.

Rainforests are found in Africa, Asia, Australia, Central, and South America. The largest rainforest in the world is the Amazon rainforest.

Why rainforest important?

Rainforests are important to the global ecosystem. Rainforest:

  • Provide a home to many plants and animals;
  • Help stabilize the world´s climate;
  • Protect against flood, drought, and erosion;
  • Are a source for medicines and foods;
  • Support tribal people.

Why are rainforests being destroyed?

Humans are the main cause of rainforest destruction or deforestation. Humans are cutting down rainforest for many reasons, including: wood for both timber and wood for making fires, agriculture for both small and large farms; land for poor farmers who don´t have anywhere else to live; grazing land for cattle, and road construction.

What are the effects has massive cutting on the rainforest?

Erosion of soil: when forest areas are cleared, it results in exposing the soil to the sun, making it very dry and eventually, infertile due to volatile nutrients such as nitrogen being lost.

Disruption of the water cycle:

trees contribute largely to maintaining the water cycle. They draw up water via their roots, which are then released into the atmosphere.

Loss of biodiversity:

even though tropical rainforests make up just 6 percent of the surface area of the Earth, about 80-90 percent of the entire species of the world exist here. The outcome of which is the extinction of animals and plants on a massive scale.

Flooding and drought:

One of the vital functions of a forest is to absorb and store there are heavy rains. When forests are cut down, this regulation of the flow of water is disrupted, which leads to alternating periods of flood and drought in the affected area.

Climate change:

the massive cutting has a direct association with carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere. Trees act as a major storage depot for carbon since they absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere which is used to produce carbohydrates fats and proteins that makeup trees.

My opinion

The massive cutting of trees is a very sad situation, because people do it do be now, but do not think in the future people will not see a beautiful river and animals and plants that are amazing. I´d like those who are now adults could work and agree to save the rainforest remain.

I want the children to know to take care of rainforests and you adults should help us to do it.
